Short but sweet

A fun, functional shooter with no strings attached. I can dig it. A few exploding animations for the enemies would have been nice, but the variety of enemies was admirable. The boss was also very entertaining and fun to fight.
Some of the black tampons were shooting at me from under the scenery, which seemed kind of cheap, but it didn't ruin the game for me.
Very entertaining overall.

i get what you mean about the black tampons. the thing is with their shots, though: you have to move into them. they shoot directly at you, but get carried along with the terrain, so it won't hit you directly unless you move into it. initially it just acted as if everything was stationary, and that made things more difficult, not to mention cheap.

Keep running with this

The art and style of this game is amazing, atmospheric and unique. For a flash game, it looks just awesome. The mixture of the cartoony body structure with the ultra-naturalistic details works surprisingly well. Sort of like a surreal Ren and Stimpy kind of thing. The effects were also very impressive, and the choice of music sucked me right into the game.
The action is frantic, and really satisfying when you pull it off. i don't mind the camera zooming out to show approaching enemies, and when it zooms in, I can see all the slick detail put into the captain and the world around him. My biggest concern is that enemies often float outside or inside of the landscape, where your bullets can't reach, making some battles a test of patience, rather than accuracy and agility. Perhaps if the enemies moved a tad slower, or were a bit more aggressive, just to keep things kinetic.
Progress can also be slow, since you only have a limited amount of lives, and platforming while fighting is like pulling your own teeth with a rusty spoon.
I think you really made something amazing, that stands out form the usual fair on new grounds and I think you should keep running with these ideas. If not another tank men themed game, I believe the style in which you present your flashes is a refreshing treat for the eyes, and you could really make something great!

The most fun I'v had with Pico

The game play is simple, but very refined and fun to play. Dodging around enemy attacks, and blasting away at them is easy and exciting, especially when there is more than one coming after you. The art and style of the game is also very appealing, and the animations were smooth.
The levels are pretty cut and paste, but you did a good job of keeping things fresh with lots of interesting enemies, and a little donkey-kong-esque mine cart ride near the end.
The final boss was a bit of a let down, but the ending was appropriate and satisfying.
Overall, I loved it, and there was enough to make me go back and try to unlock the achievements. Some power ups for Pico's weapon or maybe some branching paths in the levels would have been really cool, but the stuff you guys put into this game is polished to a mirror shine.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! The last boss is rather easy, yeah... That's not because we got lazy, but because we were very short on time when we started working on the boss!
Thanks for the review!

Challenging, but not broken

This game is indeed challenging, but that by no means is a bases to lower it's score. It's about timing, dodging and countering! It even says not to rush in button mashing!
That being said, the pink knight does move a tad sluggishly, and the commands can be a bit unresponsive sometimes. But for a good old school challenge, I think this flash really delivers.
The art was stylish and colorful. The animations and effects were fluid and a treat to look at. And the music seemed a bit out of place at first, until I noticed it changed as the battle progressed, which I think was a very creative touch.
